My first painting involves a sculptor and his sculpture. I asked artist Elijah Strongheart Evenson to do this small sculpture so I can work from life. I will post the color study soon
Stage 2 · December 11, 2025
After doing the color study, I started painting on the big canvas. A little from photo reference, a little from life. Having lots of fun with it.
Stage 3 · January 8, 2026
From study to the big canvas. I like the idea of the co-creation. Some time ago I read a quote about needing to stoop to see one's reflection in water before the invention of mirrors, and how that is a symbolic act of humbling oneself to witness the self. Since then that concept of kneeling was marinating in my mind. In this case humbling allows you to listen, giving place to co-creation.

Receiving a critique on my first painting at the Seattle prize! It’s so very helpful to have skilled eyes around to look at the work and point to the right direction. Now back to the canvas, to apply all the new insights i got on it.
