Master Copy after John Singer Sargent
This master copy after John Singer Sargent was created as a study of Sargent’s remarkable handling of form, atmosphere, and economy of paint. Widely regarded as one of the leading portraitists of his era, Sargent brought technical precision and psychological presence to his subjects. Through the opportunity generously provided by collector Andrew Conru, the work became both an exercise in observation and a direct dialogue with the traditions of historical portrait painting.
